At the turn of the 21st century, St. Louis civic leaders teamed up on a project to forge a better future for the children at Jefferson School in the heart of the inner city. Now those kids are all grown up. Former student Evita Caldwell spent more than a year tracking down classmates to learn whether the well-intentioned effort succeeded. Here is her report.
